An active, eventful childhood enriches children’s lives with experiences that will have an impact throughout their lives. We believe it is important that the children who come to us have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of high-quality programmes. Exhibitions, cinema, theatre, camps, workshops, day trips, holidays – anything at all.
At Élmény Tár, our shared vision is to promote genuine social mobility for the children who attend our centre and, through them, for their current and future families.
Security and stability
Stability, predictability and safety play a vital role in every child’s life. At Élmény Tár, we have created a community space that the children who attend feel is their own, where they feel safe. This can sometimes present a challenge, as small communities often find it difficult to accept new members; the children feel this place is theirs and do not want to share it with others. We who work with the children (mentors, volunteers) love the family-like atmosphere, the sense of togetherness, and the fact that the children feel the ‘Élmény Tár’ is their own. However, we believe it is important for the children who come to us to open up to the world, whilst understanding the reasons for their introversion and their desire to protect and keep their own safe little world for themselves. We want to support them in discovering, whilst maintaining their sense of security, that the world is a wonderful place full of countless possibilities, and that forming friendships and relationships is valuable and beneficial.
This is why we consider it very important not only to support our children within the framework of the ‘Élmény Tár’ programme, but also to create as many opportunities as possible for them to get out and about and take part in external leisure activities and experiences.
